Performance:
Performance tests are useful to assess system and component behaviors and qualities under various conditions. Vehicle and laboratory testing can be used to achieve the evaluation of these conditions.
Vehicle level testing is available on chassis dynamometer, road, and track. This provides the researcher the ability to acquire vehicle data through acquisition and dynamometer systems while running the vehicle through various environmental and testing conditions.
Wet friction bench testing ranges from SAE #2 high speed friction testing and low speed slip testing to clutch assembly testing in large scale dynamometer with environmental control, and noise and vibration monitoring.
- SAE, JIS and Others: Standards related, but not limited, to performance characteristics such low speed and high speed coefficient of friction taken under varying conditions of pressure, speed, and temperature.
- Client Directed or Developmental Procedures: Performance characterization protocols developed and executed in cooperation with clients to address specific testing needs. LINK can both follow an existing documented test protocol or design and develop a test plan to meet customer test objectives.
NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness):
Test method development for NVH investigations are a continuously evolving activity for the transmission and driveline community. LINK actively supports numerous programs regarding the wide spectrum of vibration and frequency levels, ranging from low frequency shudder or judder occurrences to high frequency squeal events recorded and evaluated during low speed slipping or high speed engaging events.
- Client Directed or Developmental Procedures: NVH testing conducted to address specific client requirements. LINK can use environmental control capabilities to support client directed test protocols. Wet clutch components can be evaluated on wet clutch dynamometers such as SAE #2 testers or full scale dynamometers. Additionally, the transmission may be installed in the vehicle with testing performed on chassis dynamometer in a hemi-anechoic chamber or in a controlled track or road environment.
Physical Properties:
Measurement and analysis performed on sample-level test materials such as friction materials, mating plate materials, fluids, components.
- SAE, JASO, ASTM: Compressibility, natural frequency, and other specifications developed to measure physical characteristics.
- Client Directed or Developmental Procedures: Client specific or internally designed protocols based on variants of the above listed methodologies.
Wear and Durability:
Link can apply relevant design and testing expertise to evaluate components or sub-systems using a controlled laboratory environment and the ProLink suite of control and acquisition software configured to create a test system that may not already exist.
- SAE, JIS and others: Standards related, but not limited to, performance characteristics such low speed and high speed coefficient of friction taken under varying conditions of pressure, speed and temperature.
- Client Directed or Developmental Procedures: Hydraulic, mechanical and friction durability characterization protocols developed and executed in cooperation with clients to address specific testing needs. LINK can both follow an existing documented test protocol or design and develop a test plan to meet customer test objectives.
