SAE No. 2 Machine for Wet Friction Testing
Model 3100

Model 3100 Test Head
System Features
  • Controlled fluid temperatures and actuation forces
  • Performs several start to stop cycles a minute
  • Selectable multiple discs simulate engine and powertrain input
  • Inertia simulation for precise inertia increments
  • Variable input torque
  • Variable test solution pressure and flow

The Model 3100 is an SAE No. 2 Type Wet Friction Test System designed to perform controlled input tests upon clutch friction material disc(s) utilizing transmission and drive train fluids as a cooling and lubricating medium. The system incorporates the latest technology for optimal correlation to in-use conditions and operational versatility.

The SAE #2 Wet Friction Test System is an inertia test stand in which the kinetic energy of a rotating mass is dissipated by the clutch pack or transmission band under test. The test clutch pack is mounted on a rotating adapter hub spline coupled to one end of a double-ended AC motor shaft; the band is wrapped around a rotating drum.

The System controls are designed to enable close correlation with existing test protocol. The advanced features of ProLink controls offer operator-dependent control and can be fully interlocked for automatic unattended operation. All primary operating machine functions are performed at the console, including selection of test parameters, control modes, display of pertinent data, and monitoring of all test functions.
