Link Test Operations provide a wide range of laboratory and vehicle testing services. Link testing labs located in Germany, China, Brazil and the United States, perform and develop tests for friction material, brakes, axle, transmission, and vehicle manufacturers around the world.

We offer a complete array of industry-accepted test methods, procedures and report formats such as:

  • FMVSS 105 and 135
  • Brake Balance
  • Noise Analysis
  • Roughness and Judder
  • Drift-Pull, Off- Road Dust Intrusion
  • Durability
  • Detroit, LA, Phoenix, Jennerstown Traffic and Ford Death Valley Fluid Boil

Many of these standard procedures were developed by Link in cooperation with the automotive industry.

Link Testing Laboratories offer engineering and testing support for practically any custom electromechanical testing application. From instrumentation of vehicles to actually running the test and analyzing the data, Link applies our expertise to suit specific test requirements. With over 25 years of testing experience and the extensive resources we have at hand, Link is able to engineer the correct solution from a variety of test set-ups to meet special test application needs. As our customers continue to push the envelope, Link meets each new challenge with innovative solutions.

Laboratory Testing Services:

Control RoomLink offers a wide range of physical property test capabilities to evaluate fundamental material characteristics related to materials used in Brakes, Clutches, Transmissions and similar power transmission applications. Typical tests include tensile and compressive strengths, shear and hardness measurements, as well as analytical and empirical analysis. Test applications include research, product development and quality control. Link services act as a cost efficient, reliable solution for testing parts, without the need for large capital investment

Sample and Scale Testing
Link has developed several machines and test protocols to measure component performance characteristics that may be used to predict full service vehicle performance. The Link Chase and F.A.S.T. machines represent global standards for measuring performance and wear characteristics of various types of Friction Materials. Sub-Scale Dynamometers allow a universal test procedure to be used to replicate full-scale brake performance.

Full-scale Dynamometer Testing
Performance and NVH dynamometers are available to satisfy a wide range of testing requirements for motorcycles, passenger cars, and trucks. Capabilities include but are not limited to, brake effectiveness testing, accelerated wear sequences, noise evaluation, environmental simulation, fade and recovery, vehicle to dynamometer correlation, structural integrity,  specification compliance testing, and static torque and parking brake testing.

Wet Friction Testing
The Link Oil/Friction SAE 2 and TO-4 type test machines are available for performance or durability testing of wet friction clutch plates, spacer plates and transmission fluids. Link also offers transmission components and system testing including torque converters and full scale transmission testing.

Vehicle Testing:

SaleenWith facilities throughout the US and around the globe, Link is capable of providing comprehensive vehicle testing services to meet a wide array of customer needs. Services include installation of instrumentation, driving by professional test drivers, data acquisition, and reduction and analysis of test results. Along with vehicle brake and clutch systems, we also offer capabilities in HVAC, wheel, tire, chassis, transmission and the evaluation of other vehicle components. Link will provide assistance with the design and installation of special instrumentation packages in order to meet any specified test requirements. We also develop unique measurement techniques and systems to meet custom requirements.

With secured agreements for access to specialized proving grounds around the world, Link can provide a wide range of customized test capabilities as well as industry standard tests such as Detroit Suburban Traffic (DST) tests, regulatory testing such as FMVSS and ECE Standards, and proprietary testing for specific customers.  In addition, a full range of other services are offered including management rides, benchmarking, and the development of new test procedures.
