The Model 1614 evaluates automotive starters in a production type environment. It is designed to eliminate defective starter motors before installation, saving valuable production time. By applying known loads, the tester simulates actual operating conditions.
ProLink software operates the test stand preforming data acquisition, comparing individual data points with predetermined limits, graphically displaying test results and saving the data. The computer graphically displays the test results of the last motor tested. This unique system is capable of automatically running two tests, free spin and performance, on each motor. Using pass/fail criteria up to 110 motors per hourcan be tested.
The test motor is secured by two hydraulic clamps. A pneumatic cylinder is engaged, contacting the three terminals on the test motor. A second pneumatic cylinder with a magnetic speed pickup is applied to the fixture to measure the free-spin speed on the test motor. A pneumatic cylinder and die are located on the bench top to mark each starter that passes the test.
