Link Hosts Tire Symposium

Jun 25, 2012

A tire symposium takes place at the Link Engineering Technical Center in Dearborn, Michigan.

On June 19, Link hosted an industry meeting entitled The Future of Heavy Tire Testing at its Dearborn Technical Center. Over 60 attendees from the US Military, Commercial Trucking, Automotive, and Tire industries gathered to discuss the tire-related testing and simulation technologies that will be required to address new standards for fuel economy, stopping distance, stability, and safety.

Subject experts included Dr. Marion Pottinger who presented on tire force and moment properties and Dr. Thomas Gillespie who presented on tire properties affecting truck dynamic behavior. Camber Ridge, one of Link’s engineering partners, organized the meeting as a commencement for a US Army grant to develop advanced tire testing technologies.

Link remains highly engaged with the wheel and tire industries through development of roll dynamometers, biaxial test machines, residual drag measurements and durability testing systems.
