This week’s LINK Product Spotlight is our Telemetry System for the wireless transfer of data of both temperature and speed gauge bridge type torque transducers on a test vehicle. The system eliminates the need for and avoids the shortcomings of slip rings and external wiring. An analog speed signal from the transmitters eliminates the need for wheel tachometers. This approach saves significant time to instrument vehicles and begin testing.
How the Telemetry System works:
A 7″ diameter universal wheel adapter connects to a 4, 5, or 6 lug wheel by means of extended lug nuts. Thermocouples installed in the rotor are wired out to the weatherproof telemetry transmitter unit mounted on the wheel adapter.
Each transmitter unit has 2 k-type thermocouple inputs, an optional J-type interface is also available. The transmitter is powered by a rechargeable 3.7 V Li-Ion battery that provides power for approximately 2 to 14 days before needing a recharge. The thermocouples used in the brake rotors are available for purchase.
