30th Annual SAE Brake Colloquium

Sep 11, 2012

Link Engineering will participate in the 2012 SAE Brake Colloquium Conference and Exhibition, which brings together brake industry experts from around the world.

At the end of September, Link Engineering will participate in the 2012 SAE Brake Colloquium. This well-established technical conference and exhibition brings together renowned brake industry experts from around the world to learn about, present and display the latest scientific discoveries and technological innovations in brake materials, components, systems, testing, modeling and aftermarket solutions. Link’s involvement dates back to its founding and Link has exhibited at every event since.

The predecessor to the SAE event, the US Brake Colloquium, was co-founded by Marv Weintraub, Phil Daugherty, Arne Anderson, and Roy Link. The first meeting in 1972 drew 100 brake engineers to hear presentations and view a display at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn. The second conference in Atlantic City attracted more than 200 engineers. Over the next ten years the number of attendees, presenters, and exhibitors grew to the point where substantial event coordination was required and the colloquium became affiliated with the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in 1982. This year we are anticipating over 600 attendees and 60 exhibitors.

Roy Link, Chairman of the colloquium and President/ CEO of Link Engineering commented “We’re happy to have contributed to the tradition of bringing together technical experts and management from around the world to discuss trends and developments in the brake field”. At this year’s event Carlos Agudelo, Link’s Director of Technology and Development will present “Statistical Methods for Proficiency Testing: Case Study for Brake Pad Compressibility” and Tim Duncan will chair a session discussing all current and new SAE work standards.

Link will also exhibit new developments for testing of system performance, NVH characteristics, and physical properties at booth 400, including a demonstration of Brakeview, a portable brake LRO and DTV diagnostic tool. Staff will be on hand to answer questions and share information about expanded laboratory capabilities in the USA, Germany, and China.
