Tis the Season of Giving

Dec 23, 2016

Several employees have taken special interest in Packages from Home and a Salvation Army Food Pantry.

The holiday season is upon us and one of the best ways to celebrate is by giving back! We want to share two wonderful charities that are close to the hearts of LINK’s team members. Several LINK employees have taken special interest in Packages from Home, as well as a Salvation Army Food Pantry.

Packages from Home started in 2004 after Kathleen Lewis, who was sending care packages overseas to her son, a soldier with the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, discovered no one else in his unit was receiving anything. Kathleen and a few friends began sending packages to her son’s entire unit. Before long, the word spread and donations and volunteers started pouring in. By November 2004, Packages from Home became a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

On Saturday, December 3, a few members from LINK Vehicle Testing Arizona, spent their morning at Packages from Home, packing 80 boxes full of uplifting thank you letters and food. This was a wonderful opportunity to give back to those who so generously protect our country.

Another great way to give back during this season is through food drives. LINK facilities all over North America participated in a food drive sponsored by the National Junior Honor Society benefiting the Salvation Army Food Pantry. LINK employees took part in the food drive from December 5-9. They donated items such as canned foods, boxed meals, and pasta noodles. These donations will help the Salvation Army provide holiday meals to approximately 350 families this holiday season.

Thank you to all those who participated and are giving back in other ways this holiday season.
Wishing you and yours a warm, healthy, and happy holiday season!
