LINK Shim Damping Test Stand (DTS)
DTS Product Overview
Vehicle brake systems have a complex dynamic behavior, which means noise and vibration issues are a major concern through the whole value chain of the brake industry. Brake squeal is one of these major issues. The use of “brake shims” applied to the brake pads is one of the most effective methods to reduce the occurrence of squeal.
The LINK Shim Damping Test Stand (DTS) is ideal for a wide range of users in the brake value chain, from OEMs through the brake system supplier, up to the brake pad, brake shim, and polymeric adhesives manufacturers. The LINK Shim Damping Test Stand is an automated system and the measurements, subsequent data handling, and presentation of the results do not require human interference. Once the measuring sample is placed on the supporting foam, the system takes care of the rest. This means time is better utilized, personnel can do other tasks, and results are less biased by external factors.
DTS Key Features
- Shim – test according to SAE J3001
- Automatic estimation of natural frequency and damping
- Fully automated
- Simplicity
- Fulfill typical industry standards/recommendations such as SAE J3001 and EKB 1100
- Can be used for other tests beyond brake shims
- Vibration response measured by a laser vibrometer → Eliminates the errors caused by using contact sensors such as accelerometers e.g., added mass, added damping through cable, attachment method of sensor to the testing sample, etc. (no double hits)
